Also, I imagine that when everyone read it, they thought by default that the couple was really male to female in real life as the characters are designed that way.

Fact is, the chance for it being the other way is much higher then for it being the way it appears to.

Methys, that's the best part, the pink chat was "tells" or "whispers" the orange is emotes(i should add, most of those are not "stock" emotes :p ) and the white is public/local/say chat.

edit- did i say most? i meant ALL of them are not...
