Rather long post incoming.. :p

As you will have all noticed over the past couple of months i have hardly been playing WoW at all really, apart from odd hours here and there. I originally took a break to play some WC3 & Oblivion, then i was waiting for my new computer to be built, i then decided to play some more new games now that my computer could actually play them decently enough etc.. I never really intended not to play WoW for such a long time, my break just kinda got longer and longer and tbh i don't feel the urge to play WoW any more. I did play a couple of days the other week for a few hours and thought i'd start playing a little at a time, but after giving it some thought i don't think i'd enjoy it much.

For a while now i've not particulary liked the way Blizzard seem to focus most of the endgame content towards raid instances, therefore it has made the guild focus on exactly the same. I've even commented in the past that i felt the guild was beginning to turn in to a hardcore raiding guild, although we don't have all the ridiculous rules that such guilds have it still felt that way a lot of the time.. I can see where Oz was coming from with a lot of his posts.. I enjoy the odd raid but not really to the extent that the majority of the guild does and tbh when you've been playing the game for over a year theres not much else to do unless you enjoy the pvp grind.. I love WoW but it just doesn't feel the same anymore, something Sofia said recently about the 0-60 really made me think > "most members would long for the opportunity to re-experience those days.".
Because of mainly these reasons i have decided to leave WoW, either until 1.12 arrives with the pvp revamp/world pvp or until the burning crusade is released. Just to note that my account is still payed for until Oct i think so i can still login for a while yet if i want to or change my mind. However in the mean time i shall be giving FFXI a try, i've been promising myself for years that i'd at least give it a try at some point and with me not enjoying WoW so much atm its a perfect time to do so.

As i said above i intended to come back to wow soon when i got that "urge" to play again so in regards to my position of the class mentor it never really crossed my mind to hand the position over to someone else but that urge has yet to come back. I should have probably done this a lot sooner and i apologise to the locks if they felt i'd abandoned them or something (<3) and to Stu & ant for having to do the invites n stuff with me not being there. I've felt quite guilty about that. :)
Anyway now that i actually made my mind up whether i was gonna play WoW or not i have decided to hand my position of the 'lock class mentor over to Dyna until i decide to return (though if Dyna wants to remain as CM after then thats more than fine by me), i know he is more than capable of taking on the responsibility along side Bob and as you'll all know he is one of the most approchable people we have not just amongst the locks but in the guild as well. I'm happy that Dyna has accepted the position leaving me knowing the the locks are in capable hands. ;)

Anyway thats it really, soz for the rather long post and sry if some of the wording is a bit off. I've not actually slept yet :p
[Edit - Just to note that even though i won't be playing for however long, i shall keep the website uptodate as much as i always have. Next on my list to do for the site is to link the Naxx drops to thottbot and remove the signup page and link it to the signup forum instead -- but i gotta wait till my pc is fixed first heh)

(changed thread title so its easier for me to find if i ever want to reflect on it..)

One thing is for certain and that's that the group will miss you MS. You've been a core part of WoW ever since I first started playing, and presumably before that too, and its always a great blow to lose someone thats been that involved, and that cares about the guild and the way it progresses as much as you do. I know you'd always be welcomed back if/when you ever decide to return to the game, and in the meantime you'll certainly be welcome in FFXI.

I'd also like to take this chance to express similar feelings. I've not properly been ingame for over a month now (excluding the odd raid and check-up), and I dont see myself going back to playing full time in the near future. Like MS, I dont like the way Blizzard is taking WoW. Raids raids and nothing but raids seems to be their game plan. And, in honesty....raids are boring, and if you don't like them there is nothing else to do.
I would also agree that perhaps the guild is beginning to turn into a hardcore raiding guild, that being the fault of Blizzard and the way they're melding the game rather than the guild itself. Since Im not a fan of raids naturally I dont like that, but Blizzard are simply giving the guild no other choice. Thus Im getting less fun out of the game than chewing on Poison Ivy, and I really dont want to be paying for the game if Im not playing or enjoying it. Therefore when my account runs out on 19th July I wont be reactivating, likely at least until TBC is released. FFXI is far more my type of game at the moment. I will of course still follow the group on the forums, and Im sure you guys will do great things in my absense. Watch out Kelthuzad!
"Perhaps this is what I have always wished for since that day. The loss and destruction of all. That's right, one must destroy before creating. In that case, if my conscience becomes a hindrance to me, then I will simply erase it. I have no other choice but to move forward....therefore!" - Lelouch vi Britannia/Zero, Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch

Forever an eXile and proud of it!

Sorry to see you go, but understand how you feel.

Will see you back when the expansion comes. At least it will turn the focus to leveling once again.

I've even commented in the past that i felt the guild was beginning to turn in to a hardcore raiding guild,
Just look at the peaopl that are leaving or taking breaks.

I think you right hear, these people dont seem to be in raids

or maybe can never get in them.

ssx is just becoming a raid guild and nothing more

Wether they except that or not

Yea?
You sure about that?
Have fun with my next thread then.
Piece of advice: Be less bitter, be less isolationist, it might show you a few things.

Thats how i used to see things but my opinion changed a bit since then why i referred to it in as past, and started to see things somewhat differently since i made those posts. As said in my post rick, after playing the game for well over a year like some of us have when you have done everything else there is ingame to do and that you wanted, there is nothing else much to do apart from raiding. The fault of that is really in the game design rather than the people in the guild, they raid so much because after all this time thats really all there is left to do apart from the pvp side of things.

Ty for reply guys, i've been part of the group since the very beginning and i know for a fact that i shall miss playing with you guys for a start, i was just saying on irc that i've not been gone long and i'm already missing playing with some of ya.

Anyway see you all around the forums, and irc (more of you should come on irc!). I shall still probably post in this forum even if i'm not playing, i can't always shut myself off from a group just like that heh..
Hope everything goes well for you guys after we've all come so far with this group, so good luck <3. :)
