Feels really weird seeing Ishgard repaired! Feels wrong haha!
Looks great ofc, just will always be rubble strewn in my mind

haha, I do love how players have actively been involved in the process though, from a story progression point of view. Always like to see when zones dynamically change over time as a result of player actions (Tribal quests do it a bit too). Shame it can't be done more often & on an even bigger scale tbh!

Agreed! Mor Dhona would actually be perfect too - trying to bring some life back to the ravaged land etc!

So if I wander into Ishgard now am I entering a fully repaired city with new zones, or is it only specific areas that have been fixed up?
I need to go visit as soon as I get back ingame. Ishgard is my home, and the changes look amazing!

The restoration work has been limited to one specific area of Ishgard (the Firmament district) rather than a citywide effort of fixing up what already existed, sadly. Still very cool though!
Phase 1 of the restoration started in 5.11 with the zone in complete ruin:
We then had further phases in 5.21, 5.31 (all with multiple steps along the way) and the final phase which we're on atm which started in Jan with 5.41.
which brings us to where we are now, almost done:
Once this phase is complete (and thus the Firmament having been fully restored) we'll get a monument in there representing the crafting class which has contributed the most overall to our servers restoration effort too heh. Ultimately though, this is the Ishgard housing district we've been restoring so at some point in the near future (they haven't said which patch that will go live in) all of these houses you see will be plots for players to buy. Or try to at least to haha. Maybe we'll get told when that will be on Sat!
Always loved server-wide/contributed events like this (the AQ opening in WoW was another good one!). Hope they have another planned for the upcoming expansion
[Edit]
From the announcement showcase stream:
Will open in 6.0 to walk around in and you'll be able to buy a plot in 6.1

1 year, 3 months & 4 days later & we have finally completed the restoration work on Omega! (Wow, has it really been that long? lol)

Very very cool! I almost don't recognise that a couple of those screenshots are Ishgard! Not the same without the rubble ambience

Figured I'd post this here rather than make a new thread but since we're looking to buy ourselves a plot (or try to lol) in 6.1, I thought it'd be a good idea to take a walk around the Empyreum district & see what's on offer. Across the 24 wards there are 144 large, 336 medium & 960 small plots available. (To unlock the area you need to do Ascending to Empyreum]
If we're set on going with a large house then our choice of plots are 12 & 42 (subdiv), 22 & 52 (subdiv) & 30 & 60 (subdiv).
Think I'd go:
#1. 30/60 (50mil)
#2. 22/52 (47.5mil)
#3. 12/42 (50mil)
I keep going back & forth as to whether I prefer 1 or 2. Both have great views of the district with a nearby marketboard & summoning bell just down the steps (#3 has them right next to the plot itself but the view isn't nearly as good imo). Plot 30/60 has a bit of a square at the front with some greenery which I kinda like, along with 2 neighbours at the side of us, whereas plot 22/52 is sat on its own at the highest point of the district and is a tiny bit cheaper. That being said, even being at the highest point I still think the view from #1 slightly edges it, personally.
Go have a wander when you have 5, see what you guys think

I'll have a wander round and see what I think when I login tonight, but from your descriptions I kinda like the idea of 22/52!
Will report back

Yeah I would agree with your order, #30 is my favourite with the extra square in front as well as being right next door to the springs. Its also nice and high up to give a good view back along the whole zone.

Just checked, I think 12/42 is my favourite. Nice view, decent spot, right near the Summoning Bell and Market Board.
I like the position of 22/52 most relative to other houses, but the view is poor because of where it's situated.
Overall though, I'd be happy with any of them! It's such a pretty district!

Righto! I'm not sure how difficult this is going to be or whether they're going to release the wards in waves or not but I'll keep entering the lotteries until we get one (or they've all gone). Just have to keep our fingers crossed!

Going to make two posts here where we can make a note of how many people have entered the lottery on each of these plots (when we visit them later), then use these to decide which ward/plot we're going to enter ourselves. One of us can scout wards 1-9 and edit this post, the other can do 10-18 and edit the post after this

Do we have a date for the next round of masochism house hunting?

Empyreum (Savage) resumes Thu 26th at 4pm BST. As soon as that opens up I'll go check the district entrance to see exactly which plots are available for us to bid on and will get a date/time for when the lottery ends while I'm there. Can decide then whether we want to try bidding at the start of the lottery (maybe others will be tempted to go look elsewhere if there are already 2 bids on a plot when they get there?), or we wait until the last day (or day before) closing and scout the wards out to find which plot/ward has the least bids like we did last time. Then just keep our fingers crossed again lol
