Still need to actually test fly most of these but I took the liberty of taking some screenshots of the 5 flyable ships whilst I was in there.
Spoiler tagging the images cos they're kinda big :)

Enjoy! :thumb:
From looks alone the M50 & Hornet are both pretty damn sexy imo, infact the 350r ain't too bad either really.
(Question for you Anny - rather than have these high res images extend off the screen would it be possible to do something like this instead?. Fills the width of the posting area neatly for easy viewing and clicking extends the image to full.)

How do I do the latter btw?. Still very new to Twitter so not 100% sure on everything. Do I just put @TwitterName on the end of a tweet if I want to cc it to someone in particular at the same time? Then that goes public and to them too?
Another twitter question whilst I'm here actually!. I've used the #StarCitizen hashtag before but say my tweet itself has Star Citizen written in it, is it still best to add the tag in there as well or no need?

As for the facebook album, one of you guys is welcome to do that if you want since I don't use the place. I will probably tweet this here thread though since Facebook will probably destroy my PNGs with their compression (which defeats the purpose of me taking PNGs and uploading them to a place which doesn't compress) and it links people directly to the forum :)

usualy i put "cc: @twittername" when I want to CC something

I haven't seen a fix hashtag for all things starcitizen you could also put #StarCitizen into the tweet, maybe it catches on and sticks

Also you can use bit.ly to compress the url's into something shorter, it's a twitter optimization :) that way you can tweet em right to us... that would do the trick too :)

Saw your tweet, ta dude.
Thought it'd be a good idea to tweet the announcement of this forum opening too so I just did that as well ;)

Nice job.

Make moar.

Also, you need to learn how to do .webm's, and we need the functionality to embed .webm's as .gif's

See firefogg for firefox as to how to make .webm's. Video editing you do as usual.

Then upload them to places like http://webmup.com/ or http://pomf.se/

Like these ones (now really old):

Also nubis, quotation marks should resize the image so that the image can fit onto the board. If you click the image, it should expand the image to full size. Like on say, neogaf.

That way there's no need to spoil the stuff, and you can see them directly.

Webm support is a great idea, good thinking. I'm forever seeing those on GAF etc.
Will see if I can do some myself as you suggest :thumb:

Stunning screens as ever mate. I really need to sort the image display urgently though...

Thankies!
This downsampling stuff is not a good thing for me, means I spend even more time taking pictures than I did before and less actual playing. Just to think what I'll be like when the planetside stuff arrives...

Seriously though. I still need some more time with them all but I've had a fly with each of the 5 ships now. For both feel and looks I'd probably rate them Hornet/M50 (hard to decide which I like more), 350r, 300i, Aurora. I say looks as well because whilst they may not be the #1 priority over handling and ship purpose, if I'm going to be flying around for hours in one of these things then I wouldn't want to be staring at something I don't even like the look of basically. The Hornet & M50 are both super nice (inside and out) and feel good with the controller, M50 is like a damn race car as I was saying on IRC heh. Quite like the 350r as well from my short time with it. I don't dislike the 300i but it did feel a little sluggish to me in comparison and its current "look" is a tad plain looking for my tastes. Not keen on the Aurora at all if I'm honest but that didn't appeal to me to begin with so I'm just going to put that one aside I think. Just my opinion on them though, everyone will be different :)
Will do some more flying with them tonight methinks (need to try some of the tests BD gave me to do like flying around astroids, turning those G-Safe/Comstab things off and on to see how they affect things etc), then try some AI fighting again.

Take some images on the racing courses in the cloud cities.

You can also land on the buildings, the landing gear deploys when you get near a surface.

You can set the ships down gently.

Like so. Lot of detail you don't really see unless you're close. That's a landing pad on that map.

Ok, so.. I managed to make a (somewhat lol) successful landing on one of those landing pads and exited my ship on there. I've tried to do it again since however and it just wasn't happening. Not sure what I was doing differently or whether it was a bug or something but even though my ship appeared to be sat down correctly (and a much smoother landing than the time I managed to exit I may add), tapping F was just bouncing me around and he'd never get out of the seat. Weird.

You're not supposed to be able to get out. If you did, it's a bug.

Ahh, righto. I'll just practice landing a few more times then and stop trying to get out.

Might have sat on the ground for a few seconds longer before I tried to get out of my ship this time but other than that I'm not sure what I did differently.
Also if that M50 goes on sale again I'm going to have to hide my wallet otherwise it'll be joining the Hornet Ghost in my hanger.... lol :/

I know how you feel.

I RESISTED THE URGE TWICE.

TWICE.

...

Grown men spending hundreds of dollars on fictional toy ships...

Where did we go so wrong.

Seriously tho, boot up one of the races with the M50 and take some shots. Land on one of the buildings too. It's quite a photogenic environment.

I can't because I get like 10fps there due to the extra models.

Free access to all of the ships has ended now so this is just the Hornet. Methinks I chose good with the Hornet though, really liking it now and the only other ship I miss messing around on (and looking at) is the M50 :)
I got to wave 11 in Vanduul Swarm vs AI before I'd used up my final respawn, finishing with a score of 57179. Took me around an hour as pictured, which is an improvement on the 30-40mins it originally took me to reach wave 4 lol. Still need a lot of practice but I at least feel to be getting better!
