Has anyone here ever played Rifts?
Long long ago... during a pimplefaced gradeschool game of AD&D..... the desire for more depth and a broader set of rules and classes was sought after..... and we stumbled across Rifts.....

Now Serb tells me D&D has come along way since then, but it would be hard to turn away from the sheer variety and kewlness of Rifts. Its set far into the future where we once had amazing technologies, but have now blown are selves back into the stone age during a great war. This war killed so many people that there life forces began gathering at focal points around the planet (like pyramids) and when high concentrations of these life forces collided with one another, giant Rifts in space and time would be torn open to other dimensions and worlds.... letting anything thru.....

Because of these rifts you have every time period, every magic, superpower, robot, mech, cyborg, alien... ANYTHING all at once. There are litterally thousands of races, classes and professions to choose from, let alone what you can come up with yourself.
Every action has depth as how you were moving, standing, what was in the way, how powerful did you hit, what area, was there a secondary effect like a broken bone.... all play a part of a single action......

This was what we were after so long ago and thru dozens of Rift books later, still play today.
If you have never seen Rifts before here is the source book (there are tons of Rifts books) that started it all: Rifts
