The only place I see rank becoming an issue in STO is with fleet management, and particularly with fleet bank.
In the fleet bank, we can set permissions that dictate who has access to different tabs (i.e. vaults). Permissions correspond to ranks we can assign in the fleet. We all see the importance in safeguarding our assets, but I don't think the rank issue needs to be too complex. We don't want new recruits walking away with credits and Mark IX equipment before quitting. I was thinking that we should tie bank access to time with the fleet.
Any thoughts?

Not a bad idea its just working out how long a time frame, a couple of weeks to a month maybe ?
Not sure how many tabs we have but if say we have 8-9 tabs we could group items say lvl 1-2 gear tab 1 lvl 3 gear tab 2 etc ?

I was thinking something similar. The problem is that tabs are very expensive, and it would take a large guild to be able to afford all of the tabs. We have two tabs now, one for gear and one for crafting. Maybe we need to put all of the high end stuff in the crafting tab for a while and restrict that. Except for zero, I don't think any of us are over Lt. Commander. Maybe we should move anything less common or over Mark II to another tab with restricted access. Recruits not previously known to the SSX would go through a waiting period before having access to the basic tab. A more lengthy waiting period would be required before accessing more advanced equipment. So, maybe three levels of access: recruit, general, and advanced?

We will have to go with that then for now and see how it works out.

Popped in to see how things are going for you all. Looks like your having similar issues that we faced in eve so long ago. Its hard to say we're all equal and protect corp assetts by limiting access. Since I am not all that familiar with the setup in STO, all I can say is best of luck and a 2-3 tier access is worth exploring.

honestly the only things of value are even mk items i.e mk iv, vi, viii, and x.....plus energy credits....otherwise all the other stuff really doesn't matter and not worth anything but NPC fodder.
