I've put about 8 hours into the game and I really like it. A lot of is standard MMO stuff with a Star Trek veneer, but I don't mind it yet.

I have a better feeling for character development now, and I suspect I'll start a new character soon.

While I won't be able to play daily, I expect to stick with the game for a while.

Let's get this fleet started.

Hey Futile I tried to add you to my friends list, but it said you didn't exist.. So a bit confused. Can you try to add SSX-Killjoy@SSX-Killjoy to your list to see if that works?

Argh. Last thing I need right now is an MMO as I'm trying to start up my office. Saying that there's a lot of wait time, and it is Trek...

SO! For those of us on 5 year old factory spec'd Macs, err... that would be me, advice please!

Situation 1 (current):
When in PC mode, this iMac is:
Windows XP w/Service Pack 2
Double2.16 GHz processor
4Gigs system Ram
Radeon X1600 with 256Meg dedicated onboard

Think I can handle it with this? If I can I'll pick it up this week.

Situation 2:
Buying a new Powerbook in about a month. In PC mode will be:
XP w/Service Pack 2
Double 3GHz processor
4 Gig system Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M+9600M GT with 512Meg dedicated onboard

Guessing I could handle it on that. So, better to wait? Would love to muck about, if not only to be able to christen some starships, but don't want to have the disc sitting by for a while if not useful in hope that it may soon be.

One of the guys at work says he is running a x1600 with 256MB as well and it seems to run fine for him. I would say give it a go and see what happens.

As far as I understand it is all one server. With players being in different instances, until they team up. Then at the next client refresh point (ie enter a mission or what not), it will bring you all to the same instance. You can also change your instance in the map view, but i have not used it yet so unsure of how specifically it works.

I'm seeing between 7 and 9 people. One of you hosers coordinate with Annita and get a group page/forum going on already.

So we formed our fleet this evening and we have enough members for a forum. If anyone is interested in joining us, I urge you to give it a try. It is a pretty fun game (mind you, SWG was my last MMO).

I believe some of us may have access to a trial account key. Perhaps if they will contact you with the key information you could give it a go for a few days and decide if you really want to pay for it or not.. :)
