IAA Vote: Increase Regent's Power

A while back there was a proposal to increase the power of Senate (membership) votes by lowering the required majority from 66% to 50%. This passed so quickly and overwhelmingly that I didn't even have time to post it here.

Now, another change has been proposed that would increase the power of the Imperial Regent, or the head of Foreign Affairs. This new proposal would make it so that if the Regent disagrees with either a proposed treaty signing or treaty cancellation, a 2/3 majority would be needed for the change to pass, rather than the (now) standard simple majority. That said, it does also give the Emperor the power to override the Regent's opinion, and allow a treaty signing or cancellation to be passed with a simple majority.

The bill did not pass.

Also, there was yet another reform squeezed through in short order that requires upper government members to submit a monthly progress report to the membership, and allows any member to request a progress report from a government official. It seems that right upon our arrival, the winds of change have begun to blow the IAA in a more democratic direction.
