I now that one or two members of SSX are in on the Beta,
how long have you guys got left on the NDA,
because I am dying to hear your thoughts
or even better swing me a Beta invite...

Some people are in the general Beta (go them). Some people are in the Technical beta (go crashes).

Some have been in both. *whistles*
Release has been delayed to some time in the Spring, and the delay was a good thing. Beta NDAs usually last until a game is complete (or for life) so chances are you'll hear more from FC than testers. However, the game's release will be worthwhile.
But then I can say all of that because I'm a simple player who isn't part of the beta...

Just seen that they've delayed the game again for anyone that didn't already know. Now planned for 20th May. A little disappointed by it but happy too, if it leads to a better game then all is good.
Bit late btw but heya Blue!

Rather than starting another thread I'll just continue here...
Unfortunately the server model is region based,
with servers being accessed via the software you purchase.
ie US copy for US servers etc.
The Conan Community forum has a nice thread on where you
can purchase preorder for the various regions and
any associated special items for the Collectors Edition.
Sinclair-Software in Germany are selling US preorder (AOC001) versions.
Once the NDA has been lifted (which I expect to be soon) I'm sure
we will be able to discuss the games' pros and cons in more detail.

What a shame. I really don't understand why game companies feel the need to do that. It seems to be becoming a recent trend. Is there any news on how they're going to manage Xbox players?

Was expecting the servers to be split anyway tbh so not much of a surprise, it was quite rare for TR to do the global thing. (Tis a shame the game & group hasn't been a bigger success really, was a nice opportunity.)
I don't think i'll be pre-ordering a copy just yet. If i can, i wanna wait and see just how well my PC can run it first.

Am slightly confused on that one.
Since I am still in the closed beta,
and everytime I log in it reminds me I am still under the NDA.
Sooo.... since those in the Open beta are allowed to talk about the game up to lvl 13,
am I allowed to as well?'
Cuz I been itch'n to put in my 2c.

Pad,
You are allowed to talk about anything upto level 13
without breaking the NDA.
The NDA was lifted for members of the press, but us
mere mortals are restricted to our ingame experiences upto level 13.

Sounds like you can Pad, yep.
Still didn't manage to get myself a key for the open beta unfortunately so i can't share anything. I am however very eager to hear everyone else's thoughts on the first 13 levels!.
(http://forums.ageofconan.com/showpost.p ... stcount=19)NDA for REPORTERS only, has now been lifted.
NDA for General and Technical TESTERS is still in place.
You are free to talk about the first 13 levels in game.

Okay here are some of my impressions of the early game.
Without raving on about graphics and associated FPS/ disconnects,
I must say that the game is good, I enjoy the way that in the Newbie
area (Tortage) that the day and night cycle splits multiplayer/ single player.
During the day you can undertake the more traditional MMO style
quests with other companions, although in places the quests from
different sources allow a storyline to unfold before you.
Then during the Night you follow your Destiny quest chain, which is more
character specific and makes you feel 'unique/special'.
The destiny quest chains are actually split into 2 groups.
one part is archtype specific, whilst the other is generic.
So the Soldiers have more fight orientated quests,
whilst the Rogues have an element of sneaking.
I'll be honest i'm more of the Soldier / Rogue Archtype.
I've played the following character classes
Guardian
Dark Templar
Conqueror
Barbarian
Assassin
Ranger
Bear Shaman
Herald of X???
I will admit there are a few balancing issues still outstanding
with the classes, but changes (patches) are being implimented
on a regular basis so I expect most of them to be fixed
prior to release.
Also specific classes have specific melee weapon types.
ie
Guardian = shield + one hander or polearm
Conq = two hander or dual wield
Dark Templar = Shield + one hander
Barbarian = two hander or dual wield
Assassin = dual wield daggers
2 handers/ polearms are more crowd control orientated
whilst one handers are more single target,
although some class combos are AOE orientated also.
Feats are split into 3 trees, 1 is an Archtype and 2 are class specific,
and generally the 2 class trees focus on a specific weapon set.
ie 2 handed or dual wield, damage or heal (Dark Templar)
and DoT or consistent Damage (Assassin)
Also the music fits the game, although you can improve performance
by switching it off, I leave it on as it does add to the overall feel.

Btw, i downloaded a AoC general beta client a few weeks ago so i had it pre-installed just incase i got a key. I understand the open beta uses a different client than the closed beta though, so i guess the client i already have installed won't be much use? If so, anyone know a fast place to get the OB client instead?. Just hope my PC can run it now and i can get the other client downloaded in time ^^ [Fileplanet keeps sending me here when i try get it from there, prolly cos my account isn't flagged with having won i guess. :Edit: There looks to be a workaround actually so i shall try this.]

A couple of fairly basic questions for our "testers" -
I am looking for personal but not content- or game-specific answers. I am too wrapped up in another realm atm to beta this one.
1. How many total hours have you invested in AoC testing / playing?
2. Will you pay to play?
Thanks!

I'll be rolling a Priest of Mitra on a PvP EU realm on release, I've got the pre order early start so I'll be playing from the 17th.
I'm hoping some of you guys will also be playing, my name in game will be Ishkur or Ishk, feel free to look me up.
