Anyone got a pre order of LOTRO (Euro),
if so, tell us whch server you plan on rolling on.

Early Access goes live on 14th April.

I got a free EA/Beta disk at a developer gathering the other night, on a lark I installed it.

I don't hate it. Whether I "like" it or not remains to be seen.

I have no idea what server I ended up on, I'll figure that out.

-edit-
I seem to have a level 3 elf hunter on Vilya

For Early access I have a toon on Evensong.... Greyheart.

To be able to carry the toon over to release he mustn't exceed level 15.
Also I think more servers will be open on release.

I'm just going to play and see what happens.

The pre-order dic I got said I can take the character into release. So if you preordered, yah you can apparently.

Its an interesting game, I like the way they have done some things.

My PC sucks, so I don't know how much I can really play it to appreciate it.

-edit-
That server does not appear on my list, so, my guess is they are segretating EU and US like every other game.

Yep the US and euro zones are separate, as Turbine did
with DDO.

I really wish game developers and publishers would
appreciate that gamers would like atleast the possibility to
play on world servers, rather than being restricted to certain servers,
or buying multiple copies of the same game.

Hehe, I am getting a new laptop, I do too much mobile stuff to buy another desktop.

Besides, Adrian owes me a new machine so I can play some of the games we're making, and we apparently buy all our machines from the Dell outlet, so they come cheap.

I love the recent AMD price cuts - makes for a great media server setup. :thumb:

I am more or less enjoying this, there have been many brushes with Tolkien greatness, but nothing so much as to take you out of the moment by violating canon. Its been pretty story driven for these first 10 levels of mine. I like that. My favorite parts about FFXI are the story, and being a sucker for all things Tolkien, you might imagine I want my story telling to be solid :)

So, good story driven stuff, unlike FFXI, I can participate in it all at the level I am without much in the way of grinding, which gives a sense of purpose to the action missing in FFXI, so it maintains a decent pace.

I love finding classic locations, Bree and the Prancing Pony, Bag-end, etc. The towns (Bree especially) seem huge and alive. The hobbit holes look like hobbit holes, the overall feel matches my expectations of Middle Earth. I don;t even mind having to kill rabbits and what not now and again, because, well, that's not something uncommon in Middle Earth, grabbing a nice brace of coneys for second breakfast :)

If it wasn't Middle Earth and Tolkien, I don't know if there would be much for me to want to pay for that I can't get out of Guild Wars. Crafting actually looks interesting though, I have fiddled with it a bit, seems to fit in the theme. I think it may depend a great deal on community and how long they can keep this story driven pace going. Its a decent game, plays alot like Guild Wars as far as I can tell.

Its interesting playing pre-release, people are still figuring out things like the AH, lfg, etc.

The UI reminds me of, again, Guild Wars (which I understand has some things in common with WoW), as does the action. There are some animation glitches here and there, and some other art oddities (my bow clips through my cloak when its on my back).

Verdict? I kinda like it. I may give it a couple months since the pre-release didn't cost me anything. Your mileage may vary, this is after all, coming from a guy who loves FFXI.

Vilya.

It was the only one without a queue. That of course may not last.

Sitting with a 15 Hunter there at the moment.

I have a pre-order key.

I'll delete the L character then. I dunno about firing up another character just yet, I dinked with a new character and hte sotry stuff seems slightliy different at least in the prologue parts, so that could be fun. I hit 15 a couple days ago, it wasn't that hard.

Is it in general release today?

I dunno, i like the people I am rolling with on the V server, decent bunch, and I like hte progress i made, but it didn't take THAT long to level so maybe it's not that big a deal.

I am just going to miss all my shiny silver coins if I start over.

What's your ingame name? I'll try again on the right server and see if I can find you.

Due to delays in shipping of preorder games,
the nice folks at Codemasters have increased
game time on the Early Access Accounts until the weekend.
