Well, at level 48ish I still can't fish. Tried it in just about every low level area, equipped with a good pole (watch it...) and lures. No dice, can't do it, I'm going nuts rearranging key binds, etc... no deal. Reckon something is wrong on the Mac side. Figure in 2.3 there must be a bug.
Now, Sprite (my better half), is running a draenei. Finds a liitle area in Exodar where you can learn fishing (which I never hit up). Ends up that the catch is (no pun intended) that to fish as a draenei, you get this quest and she gives you a Draenei Fishing Net.
Haven't tested this yet myself, but after a few months of frustration in minor attempts, she's now, at level 4, yelling, "Hey Honey, I caught one of these! Is that good?"
So, erm, yeah, may have to go back and find me a net...

Mmmm, seems she now has a fishing rod and all is well. Me, I can't fish at all. I think somewhere along the line I screw some key binds up or something. Gotta look into it.

fishing should have nothing to do with key binding. you need to train the skill, get yourself a rod and equip that rod. remember you MUST equip it!!!

lol. Yep, know the basics. Think what happened is I didn't think I was ever going to bother to fish again and now that I decided to muck about with it I'm in areas which are to high level for my fishing skill (which stands at an astounding '1'.). Plan to head back to SW soon to train up some smelting and Shaman skills, so I'll have a go in and about the starter areas.
