Mechs playing basketball. I thought it was a horrible idea, mostly because when someone says "basketball", there's no better synonym for "indifference" in my mind. I just so nothing that sport.

However...

I find it fairly entertaining, episode after episode, on the fourth right now. Didn't think it'd interest me at all, but it does, it's fairly well done. It helps that it's very pretty, style and design wise, the audio is very good, and the plot is not bad either.

Wow. It does look very stylistic. I'll have to give this one a whirl.

Hmm Episode 6 was interesting.
Looks like ol Lunar Bust has an old flame to deal with. Not only that, but it seems like this might all be a set up for something bigger by some of the major players on the moon. I mean, what if these things were meant to propel everything towards this direction. Meaning maybe they set up particular events to give birth to something like Basquash? I almost wonder if Coco's accident might of been on purpose...
LUNAR BUUUUUUUST!

Yup I really dig this show. Bizarre as it may be.
I especially loved it when Dan effectively told him to stick his Open Street Ball up his bum...

Director got fired.

Animators went with him.

Supposedly sponsors weren't happy or something, and we all know how much the ideas of sponsors are worth.

Anyway.

This'll probably turn to shit.

:weird:

They all got fired mid-season? That's dreadful project management, you would have thought they'd at least wait till it does it's seasonal run (13 or 25, whichever appropriate).

Shame if the whole show gets ruined because of it.

They brought in another director, one that actually has experience with this shit and has worked on another project that went 3 episodes in before that director got fired, and the series ended up kind of meager.

Anyway, we'll see the effects, but this is most likely ruined, especially because of its animation being so special, and those guys quitting.

We will likely see the effects of the firing and mass exodus after episode 13. Here is to hoping that the anime won't suffer, but I know better than to be hopeful. :(

Fast forwarded, reviled the art and the mix from before and after, junked it, dropped it.

After the unusual hiccup that was episode 12, episode 13 more than makes up for it. Especially the ending. The series seems cliched at first, which it is, but the other things going on behind the scenes, that make you wonder if the whole cliched thing seems like a feint for something bigger. Firings and walk outs aside, I think things will shape up for the better.

Episode 14 marks a new opening and ending. The opening seems fairly generic, but I did like the ending song. We learn some interesting things in this ep.
Iceman apparently has a cybernetic arm, I was thinkin that was the case for some time now, but this ep confirmed it, and Sela's father is assassinated, which ought to form some interesting character development with Sela. I am thinkin that he was assassinated by either a group who was opposed to the town rebuilding, or one of Mr. Bubble Blowers cronies, because he outlived his usefulness. The former seems more logical.
All in all, this is getting more and more interesting.

Other than that one episode, the show has been nothing less than stellar so far. Just when I think I have things figured out, Basquash throws me for a loop.
The the issue between Earthdash and the Moon was pretty predictable. I mean I figured out long ago that there probably was a gravity distortion that was causing the moon to get closer to Earthdash. Though how they will solve this problem is a mystery. I mean Obviously Dan will save the day in some fashion, but it may not be in the way we would expect.
The character relationships are becoming interesting as well. The role of "bad guy" seems to shift around a lot too, which is something I have always enjoyed.

Not a bit OTT?
I mean I had flashbacks of Gurren Laggan in effort but ...well, badness in style. :<
