In case anyone slept through the first post I made about this, here's the follow up:

https://torment.inxile-entertainment.com/

If that's not enough, you can read the announcement of the kickstarter campain commencement here.

I'm 2 days late with this, why has nobody else pointed it out? WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!?! And no, I will not accept EAsporncityalwaysonlineevenifyoucantordontwanttobe as a valid excuse for being distracted from a game so awesome that it makes the aforementioned sim look like it suffers from down's syndrome. Unless, of course, you were purposely avoiding the forums because that thread has somehow managed to become the one of the most active over the past few weeks month and you cannot even begin to fathom why. Ok then. Fine. Yeah. I'll accept that. Barely. But I digress.

Make ready the wallets, already. This is happening. Go.

Pass. Its rooted in Monte Cook's new game campaign world. While the original Torment had a great story, the prime attraction for me was that it used the Planescape setting.

Without watching it all, I'm pretty certain that's the exact same video as what's on their kickstarter page btw :)

If anyone was thinking of passing on this *cough*Chimera*cough*, I encourage you to reconsider.

"But why, Stracius?"

I'll tell you why. Actually, I'll let Patrick Rothfuss tell you why; he's the better storyteller.

/*self-thread-hijack*/
I also highly recommend giving a listen to his video over on the Geeks and Sundry youtube channel, Story Board. It's an intriguing discussion and analysis between him, Colin McComb, Jerry Holkins, and Veronica Belmont regarding gameplay and storytelling, and touches on past and present games. It clocks in at over 60 minutes and completely fascinating throughout its entirety. I'm looking forward to those four getting back together again to continue where they left off.
/*end-thread-hijack*/

Tell yo wife, tell yo kids! Tell yo best buddies who've never played anything other than those bizarre building games with no stories or plots whatsoever!

Disclaimer: I'd never heard of Patrick Rothfuss until I stumbled across the aforementioned video a couple weeks ago. I ask that any of his fans please refrain from angrily arming yourselves with very large trout. Plans on becomming more familiar with his works have been made.

Also, if anyone's interested and didn't see it, there was an AMA (Ask Me Anything) thread on Reddit the yesterday featuring Monte Cook, Brian Fargo, Colin McComb, and Kevin Saunders.

I see they have passed their 2.75m stretch goal earlier this week and that Brian Mitsoda will be joining their writing team, awesome news. (Some of you may remember the Dead State kickstarter I kept harping on about last year, that was his).
Will have a read of their AMA tomorrow, ta for posting :)

They'll need 700k in the next 14 days to make it happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does. Busy guy, having already worked on Wasteland 2 and currently doing Project Eternity. Not to overlook all the other great talent they're planning on bringing, but I'll be happy as a clam if they hit that goal and he joins.

That would probably make it confirmed as greatest game of all time before development even begins.

Going to up my pledge in order to try and make it happen.

Won't be upping mine I'm afraid, but I've already pledged more towards this one than any of the other 20+ kickstarter projects I have backed heh. Hopefully they'll manage to reach the 3.5m target but I think it's going to be extremely close if they do. Fingers crossed!

Which tiers did you guys go for btw?
I know BD & Mech went for $125 & $110, BD getting access to the alpha with his.
I was really tempted by the boxed collectors edition initially as I like my physical goodies over digital for stuff like that but with $18 international shipping on top and then the likelihood that I would get stung with customs as well once it arrived... Would have been one expensive <censored> game lol. Decided to go with the $75 tier in the end :)

Went with the $65 tier. Had to work during the launch of the kickstarter so all the physical goods tiers up to $125 had hit their quota limits by the time I returned home. I don't have the disposable income to justify spending over a hundred on a single game, though the additional cloth map, soundtrack, and all the novella (if digital) is quite tempting.

Oops, scuse me. I missed that question!

I went for $65 in the end. Gives me what I would want from the game, without being *too* expensive.

I haven't yet upped it on the back of Avellone though, so that may change. I am loath to go much higher though, as I don't really think it'd be right to have my name in the credits for just handing over money. We'll see. I may be tempted yet...

I wound up having to reduce my pledge due to unforeseen RL stuff happening. Dropped down to the $45 for the digital version of Torment and Wasteland 2.
