Saturday was a day like any other. I got up, took care of my daughter and such. Then I got probably the worst migraine I have ever experienced. I tried to lay down for the evening in a vain attempt to sleep it off. Woke up on Tuesday. Wife said I went batty. Both my famly doctor and my wife concluded that I experienced some sort of 'mini stroke'. I couldn't support weight on my left leg apparently and I was talking all sorts of gibberish and acting batshit crazy. I also have ZERO memory of what happened between saturday and tuesday morning. I should of went to the ER but for whatever reason I somehow convinced my wife to leave me be as I seemed to be coming out of whatever it was that I got into. While I seem none the worse for wear I know that there is a noticeable decrease in my hand eye coordination and reaction speeds. I like keeping folks in the know, so now ya know and knowing is half the battle. :) at least my sense of humor didn't die off lol. I am just glad it wasn't a full blown stroke. Anywho that's my bad news of the day.

Good times.

Terribly sorry to hear that Fen. I know how bad strokes can get from firsthand experience, and I'm glad that you seem to have got off lightly at the very least.

Have they managed to diagnose the cause? Stress? You need to take it easy for a while.

Fen,

I'm a doc. If you haven't been to the ER get there NOW. Not tomorrow, not later, not to an appointment with your doc. Turn off the machine and HEAD TO THE ER. It sounds like you've experienced a Transient Ischemic Attack, one of that magnitude indicates a need for emergency treatment as soon as possible, it indicates that without treatment a stroke can occur at any time. Saying that, TIAs have full resolution (no continuing symptoms) usually within 24 hours, so you may have even had a stroke and the neuro symptoms indicate there is still a blockage or an active bleed.

Seriously bud, no shit, go, now. If you can either have someone drive you or call the hospital for transport, tell them you think you've had a stroke.

Whilst I can imagine it's scary please listen to Oz if you haven't done already done so, dude. Tbh it's quite worrying to think your family Doctor didn't send you off then & there if that's what he suspected?. For something as potentially serious as this could be, which could possibly reoccur and you not be so lucky next time, it really wouldn't do any harm to get fully checked over at the hospital just to be on the safe side.

Acually oz I already saw my doc and the Tia thing is something that he and my wife came up with as a possibility. My doc said that my migraine could have caused stroke like symptoms. Regardless, I had a serious episode of minor stroke proportions. :- my doc has cleared me so far. He wants me to take it easy an shit. But I got all my bases covered so far. As it happened on Sunday and Monday I was well past any critical situations at the moment, at least as far as my doc was concerned, which is why he didn't send me right off. He did consider an MRI but as I hadn't experienced any more symptoms and I drove myself and was for the most part perfectly fine at the time of my visit, he didn't see the need for an MRI. And yeah I should of went to the ER, but as some of you well know my stubbornness is the stuff of legend. But once I did realize what was goin on I made sure I got my self in to see my doc. I had some blood work done last week for my physical that I was supposed to go to on Monday and my results of that were shockingly healthy considering all that's happened. Hell my cholesterol is in the 90s lol. All kidding aside though, I think I will be alright. I thank you all for your concern as well. All my friends really had my back. My family outside of my father my wife and my aunt, not so much. But again thanks for all the advice and well wishes.

Unbolded.

Soz mate, didn't mean to yell but I was worried. Didn't realize your doc had cleared you. The symptoms you described are HUGE red flag for emergency treatment. Glad to see it's covered.

This sounds absolutely terrible, Fen; although I am glad to hear that you are okay for the time being. I hope you can steer clear of additional problems in the future. Take care.

Definitely terrible news. I can't say anything that hasn't already been said, but I wish you well anyway, and glad you seem to have made it through in one piece.

I went through what you just went through just a little more than a year ago, so I know how it's like. But from what you explained, mine is more severe, it affects the left side of my body, kinda weaker compared to before, movement and coordination is tougher. Anyhow I'm glad to hear it's nothing more than that and if you need someone to talk to, I'm here.
