They're turning it into an FPS apparently.

Held off for that one regardless of initial excitement. Had a few mates in other forums jump on in, then swim to the side of the pool.
Based on that, I might pay a buck for it if it had solo play, but running about looking for other players in a barren world would make me feel all Vincent Price in 'The Last Man on Earth', or Charlston Heston in the 70's remake 'The Omega Man', or Will Smith in the 00's re-remake 'I Am Legend'.
So, will pass with no doubt.
BTW, still thought the Vincent Price was the best, the 'pseudo-zombies' calling out 'Baaarrrrnnnnaaabuussssssssss' gave me nightmares as a kid, Heston dying in the representation of Jesus was cool, Smith was just in a film trying to combine best of the other two, which fell short.

I still can't believe they spent so much for the production and advertising of Tabula Rasa. It would've had alot of potential if they allowed for players to select an opposing faction (the NPC aliens for instance). Sigh at Richard Garriott...

Even for a dollar, as Ozone said, it would be like playing in a dead zone . Not too much activity anywhere in the world. :blank:

Yep. I couldn't even sell the idea off as "gifts" (who turns down a free 30 day MMO - apparently everyone)

It's sad to see a great idea go like this, ah well...

Very Sad, here is a great article breaking down things that went right and terribly wrong:

Thanks for that link Pad. I'd have to agree with the overall point the re-review made. TR was supposed to focus on a particular gamer base, but ended up trying to appease the majority and came up short on all fronts.

That article sums it up perfectly.
Such a shame, there was a lot of potential there. :/

If you bought it for a buck, you got ripped off.

I told you they were shutting the failtrain down.

And here's the source:

And no I did not. Got a friend to join me and we've been having a blast. Definitely worth the $2.50 (shipping) each of us spent for some fun co-op. :thumb:

It's like those papers students nowadays write that use wikipedia as their source.

Well, to take it one step further (and academically correct) we quote the source :p

Such potential gone down the drain...

Sigh, this game had so much potential and could have achieved greatness beyond imagination. However, It turned out to be a failtrain as BD said haha . I'm not surprised that they are closing the game down, but it's sad to hear that people are being layed off.

I would imagine the entertainment industry getting a boom from the recession as more people would spend towards entertainment and things to lift them out of the boredom and such that comes with joblessness. I suppose the economy has strange negative spiraling effects :shake:

Wow, this flopped faster than Auto Assault. That's pretty sad, really.

Shame about this, I enjoyed the game for the period I played,
just a shame it had those glaring faults.

Then again, in reading current news...

The servers (few that they are) will be maintained for a while. After February they will be free to play. Current price of the game, including shipping, is about $5 (2).

Sure, there's no end-game content. But might it be worth having a few of the SSX from different gaming areas (EVE, WAR, WoW, etc) get together near February where we can all mingle? Maybe we can even get the majority of the SSX together as a whole for an hour a week?

A cheap, no subscription required SSX clam-bake. Would love to meet some of you guys in a game. This being so cheap now and free to play...

Many years back I ran a 'Deus Ex' server. There was no end game content there either, but we all had a blast running amok, kicking the crap outta each other, firing insults and brags back and forth, etc...
was a load of fun and a lot of good gaming memories.

Thoughts and opinions?

Here's one good thing that came out of it (for me).

[quote]this package includes two months of City of Heroes/City of Villains and two free months of Aion among other things.]

Not bad since I have CoH. Two months game time for a buck ;-)

@Ozone, I wouldn't mind hopping on with ya once it goes free for that short month. And before BD jumps on us, I know everything's getting erased. But my memories won't :thumb:
