Ok, so I downloaded DoD as part of my HL2 Silver purchase.
I like it.
Look for RolandThompson and his Thompson Rifle hunting down Nazi snipers on a server near you

I quite enjoy DoD as well, pretty good mod on a great game.
Been playing DoD: Source lately, but the performance drop on it is enough to make me want to slap a few developers around. I might go back on the original Day of Defeat soon. I play around as, of course, Stracius ^^ .
Natural Selection: Combat is pretty fun too. Not so much regular NS, unless you have at least half-intelligent teammates.

My HL2 went kaboom just before I went to uni, now I'm stuck with a non-working copy... -.-

Yes, a .45 caliber SMG, sometimes referred to as the Thompson "Rifle"
Learn your weapons, man
Anyway, I have not noticed slowdowns, except lag related ones. It usually plays pretty smooth.

If you are playing on a stim-injected Alienware box you probably won't notice it.. It is more of for us low end graphics people, that defintely notice the hit.
Although even at 800x600 with everything low, I seem to avoid most system related lag, and I get plenty of kills in on the board. I have noticed that there seems to be alot of server lag on most of hte servers I have played on.
Outside of that DoD: Source rocks, although I really wish they would have released more maps..
Never underestimate the power of a rifleman!!! Oh and I play as SSX-Killjoy.

I don't enjoy having to pay $20 for it when I just paid $40 for BF2
On a side note, if you ever see [GT]DaSaints on BF2, wave ^_^
