Rogue: fire res gear possibilities

all of the engame raidcontent implemented in wow so far includes in one way or the other mobs which deal fire dmg (Onyxia, MC, BWL)

as QD has written in his MC thread: sta > fire res... exept at the Onyxia & especially the ragnaros encounter, where the highest possible fire resistance is the way to go (probably BWL as well)

for this reasons, its kinda hard to balance high agi/attpwr/crit gear with high sta and/or high fire res for rogues

here i want to take the chance & post some ideas about the gear:

head:
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=7249 (BRD) or http://www.thottbot.com/?i=19133 (scholo) with a libram of constitution for hp
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=35667 (DM east) with a libram of resiliance for fire res

neck:
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=19212 (UBRS) for crit & some fire res
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=4829 (onyxia key quest) for fire res & hp

shoulders:
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=35816 (DM west) for sta & fire res if possible with the +5 fire res enchant from the argent dawn obtained at revered

back:
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=20121 (UBRS) an option if you cant get the fire res elsewhere... at the expense of sta/attpwr/agi depending on the cloak you usually use (+5 to every res enchant recommended at all cloaks)

chest:
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=19205 (UBRS) best blue chest nuff said, all you ever need

waist:
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=22029 (strat) same as the wildfire cape, if you cant get the fire res elsewhere its an option at the expense of sta/agi

legs:
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=5056 (tribal LW) with a libram of constitution for max hp/attpw/crit
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=8321 (LW) with a libram of resiliance for max fire res

finger:
ordinary green rings with up to +22 res are great to add the resistance right when you need it without cutting your usual stats too much (look out at the ah for them)
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=35573 (Azshara waterlords) after we went to MC some times its a nice reward for fire res

trinket:
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=38436 (DM classbook) best trinket for the core
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=10516 (Enchanting) great incase your enchanter

keep in mind: you dont need exactly this drops to run MC neither you need them all! Its just a possibility. After we start raiding the core & kill the first few bosses, the epic drops often add fire res anyway... dont expect us to kill ragnaros at the first attempt, because the core really is a challenge... but after we got our first few epics, it will get more & more easy from there on & most drops listed above can be replaced by better ones from MC itself!

I have not included pvp rewards in my list! In general they are great to add hp with their usually high sta stats & nice attpwr boosts, but lack in terms of fire res... if you can get them, great! but its a challenge to maintain the rank & run MC at the same time if you are not a hardcore player :nervous:

Its not neccesary to maintain your pvp rank to keep using your gear anymore :)

Also quick note about the volcanic set..its not worthwhile going fire resist if its not backed up with other stats..especially stam. Go Sta first..if you can pair it fire resist, all the better

http://www.thottbot.com/?i=37473 < Nice one for engineers

http://www.thottbot.com/?n=127480 < This guy drops various fire resist bracers. The three flavours to look out for are the +15 sta, the +15agi, and the combo one being the best of the bunch. He's pretty easy to farm too..two rogues can do it, its even soloable with good fire resist or potions :thumb:

think you just about covered every other piece of decent fire resist for rogues pre MC :)

Fire Res Gear is ONLY For Ragnaros (out of the fights I've experienced).

Stamina gear for the rest.

Vs Ragnaros however 10 FR > 100 HP.

Although we will need high DPS at the same time, Warriors will be put into the rogue groups to maintain battleshout, and other fun stuff during the rag fight.

i would be surprised if the upcoming zul gurub instance with his 120 new drops wouldnt add a lot of pices to the list even beter suited as pre MC eq.

apart that, i tried to list the eq stuff where it is possible to get a high fire res WITHOUT cutting down the rest too much... its up to you to figure out a good combination that works for you in terms of dmg>sta>fire res

& ty for the tip luna :thumb:

Altho I'm still too low for this and far from having gear that fits for MC and other higher instances I'm looking around for stamina gear.
Great post sofia :)

Just a question, since I'm part of the 'leet elite newb rogue crew @ 55' (^^) I'm wondering what libram is :smack:

Cant we put paladins with fire aura in rogue groups too?

well the plan would be to have a paladin in every group thats in close combat, more or less.

Theres some special Libram books that you can get which you take to burning steppes along with around 50g (sometimes less) and some other mats and you can get special enchants for your head/leg slots. :)

Those consititution librams dont go too cheap tho :/

If you're on a low budget you might be able to pickup a Voracity libram which go for alot less and get the +8 stamina enchant. Its only 20hp difference when you think about it

./me cries at the cost of resilience librams :(

I seen an interesting video before of Rag being downed from a rogues PoV. While fighting rag..he used his standard instance gear, my guess to DPS him down as quickly as possible..with a shaman and druid keeping the melee group up. Then once the sons of flames spawned, all the rogues vanish and switch to fire resist gear..probably cause of how chaotic the fight is and healing is scarce.

Fire res gear. is supposedly good for certain MC thrash mobs as well..

I've got the mats for a consititution libram now (well all except the libram itsself). There was one on AH for 55g buyout but i ain't paying that for one. 55g for the libram then another 30g to get it made, i'd be broke. :(
I'll see if a cheaper one comes on AH i guess.

oh hell, i noticed the chinese gold farmers have found another toy in librams :shake:

back when i enchanted my gear, i only paid 3g for both constitution & resilience... this sucks!

We should also set MS and a few other leatherworkers up with Thorium Brotherhood rep asap

Once we start doing MC and getting cores and other mats, theres some nice Fire Resist gear that can be crafted..lookie:

You know.. i haven't even started gaining rep with Thorium Brotherhood yet. :(
Do u need to do every other quest at searing gorge to be able to hand in the Dark Iron Residue? Pretty sure i got a bit of that in my bank, though i got rid of a lot of it cos i needed bag space. *doh. :nervous:

A couple of quests, then kingsbloodx4 + incendosaur scalex2 + coal.

neutral-> friendly.

Dark Iron Residue x 4

friendly -> honoured.

Okay i'm at the incendosaur scales/kingsblood/coal bit now, i can farm for the scales, i think the quest npc sells the coal? but the only way i can get kingsblood is from AH (not even any on there atm). So if anyone has any kingsblood that they don't need pls send it my way!. Once i get to friendly i can then make our leather wearers Molten Helms. :)
