Maintenance is a no play day. Obiously the servers are down to actually perform the maintenance, but it's also usually difficult to even get patched and logged in after a maintenance. It will throw errors at you left and right, because EVERYONE is trying to download the patches from the servers, and that causes netowrk congestion on login, because part of hte login requires it check patch status.
Huge pain in the ass.
Plan on not playing at all that day. My cheif complain about FFXI is the way they handle patches, maintenance is part of that complaint
